Despite being released over 10 years ago, Team Fortress 2 still boasts one of the biggest player bases on Steam. Today, the number of players peaked at 54, - placing the game at seventh on Steam's leaderboard of most-played games. And behind the player count, there is still a significant esports community organised by a series of leagues unaffiliated with Valve. TF2 players have run a small but passionate competitive community for several years. Over the past few weeks, however, a darker side of the community has emerged. Several competitive players and community members have reported experiencing a culture of harassment and toxicity.

Valve's forgotten game: Team Fortress 2's shocking toxicity problem
Valve's popular free-to-play shooter Team Fortress 2 has received a surprise update. While the patch doesn't seem to include any new content, like Jungle Inferno did , this new update does include a bevy of changes to competitive mode as well as balance changes to weapons. This update also fixes a number of bugs.
Competitive Mode is an official game mode released for Team Fortress 2. The mode is accessible only by having a Premium TF2 account, a valid phone number linked to their Steam account and must be at least level 3 in Casual Mode. Store to gain access.
