With an ever-growing amount of players who desire to use the Dolphin FPS build, we needed to help make it easier to find matches. The Dolphin FPS build will not replace the current build, but serve as an option for users who want to take advantage of the latest features from the Faster Melee project. While some of the features like less input lag and increased smoothness look appealing, Faster Melee isn't for everyone. It should be noted that Dolphin FPS takes up much more resources than the current build, and there might be some instability on your end if your computer isn't powerful enough - especially if you're trying to stream with Dolphin FPS running.
Melee Online Edition Announced
FPS Melee Comes to SmashLadder! - Faster Melee
Thus far, Super Smash Bros. Brawl and both versions of Super Smash Bros. The Nintendo 64 does not natively support online play, though the idea was explored as part of the 64DD add-on. As such, online play for Smash 64 is accomplished through the use of emulators, such as Project64k. Owing to the lower system requirements of Nintendo 64 emulators and the rather fragmented community surrounding Smash 64 , netplay is among the most common ways to play the game in the current scene. While the Nintendo GameCube does have limited support for internet connectivity with appropriate adapters , Melee was released prior to the official release of these adapters, and as such, it does not natively support netplay. Like Smash 64 , netplay for Melee is generally accomplished through emulators, particularly Dolphin.

This is a free to enter event aimed at growing our scene through smashgg's matchmaking ladder! For those unfamiliar with how the ladder works, once you join the ladder queue via the ladder tab on this page, you'll be matched against various opponents who have also joined the ladder event. The more you win the higher you climb up the rankings, the first person to reach the hall of fame rank will win free entry to the June Revenge of the 6ix Melee event and the overall highest placer will receive free entry also! The event is open only to Canadian players. In the future we may extend the scope of the ladder but for now were looking to give it that nice local feel.
As Melee fans wait patiently for Melee HD with full online matchmaking and shiny updated textures, fans have stepped in to bridge the gap with their own version of online play for Melee. Acting as the next step from on the Netplay Community build of Melee for the Dolphin emulator is Melee Online Edition, a new build which is completely built around competitive play. The reveal trailer promises ranked matchmaking with an ELO system, an integrated character pick and stage striking system similar to that found in PM, as well as online lobbies with voice chat. The pre-alpha is scheduled for this autumn and you can sign up here if you want to help test it. While it may look too good to be true, other Melee modders like Dan Salvato, the creator of 20XX Tournament Edition, have confirmed that this mod is legitimate and that they are willing to help out with its creation.
