If OkCupid is to be believed, the common trope about men being primarily attracted to younger women is no stereotype. In fact, more than half of the straight conversations on OkCupid are between men and women who are younger than them. Yet for some men, the allure of the elusive recent college grad is lost. Instead, they prefer the opposite: Older women are more emotionally mature and self-confident, more steady and successful in their careers, more worldly and chill about the nature of the relationship, these men say. To better explore this phenomenon, I interviewed three men who swear by dating older women:

This is not surprising. That higher sex drive translates, among other things, into being more direct with men. Being around a younger guy makes a woman feel younger as well. Few things are more flattering to an older woman than being with a younger guy who craves her body and who is more eager to be close to her physically than any older guy would. Ironically however, the very fact that the two people remove the pressure of commitment from their interaction increases their sexual attraction and passion toward each other and their desire to be with each other, as their relationship is not clouded by fears and complications of commitment, long-term relationships and related issues.
Women are often the target topic when it comes to love and dating advice. But all too often, women in their forties are overlooked during these conversations. Sadly, this is nothing new. Hollywood movies often perpetuate the idea that women cease to be datable above a certain age.
